When Tamara and Idris contacted me last year regarding their wedding, I was quite ecstatic. Tamara is 1/2 Vietnamese, 1/2 Chinese and Idris is 1/2 Indian, 1/2 English. I’ve always wanted to experience an Indian wedding and even though Tamara told me it won’t be a full blown Indian wedding, I was still excited to see all the Sari and Indian heritage being part of the wedding. Our first meeting went extremely well, Tamara and Idris, who are both attorneys, wanted to see if there would be a connection before they make a decision on hiring anyone. I gave them a couple of options on the packages I offer, one of them is hiring a lead assistant if they were worried about budget. At the end of the meeting, Tamara said “I don’t know how anyone would hire a lead assistant or anyone else after meeting you”. This humbled me so much although I did assure them that our KDWP lead assistant is very capable of coordinating a wedding. With those kind parting words from Tamara and Idris, we locked down the contract within the week. We’ve met several times during the planning process and each time, I could sense that I was taking a load off their shoulders. After each meeting, they came out much more relaxed than when they came in. This validates the reason why I am still planning/coordinating weddings even though this is a stressful job.
My team and I (well mostly my team) tied all of sashes on the chairs.
Ceremony time!
Idris and Tamara opted to do an Indian style ceremony and a tea ceremony during the ceremony. It was a great blend of 2 cultures.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took pictures around the hotel.
Reception setup on the rooftop of the London Hotel.
Tamara and Idris’ wedding had a steam punk flair to it and I absolutely love it!
One of the BEST wedding cake I’ve seen! Look at the detail.
Idris’ father’s speech was just awesome, funny and embarrassing to Idris….
…You can tell by Idris’ reaction.
We cater to the bride and groom.
The guests definitely know how to party.
Idris and Tamara….thank you, thank you, thank you for having KDWP be part of your wedding. You have made one of my dream come true by being able to coordinate an Indian wedding (even if it wasn’t a full on Indian wedding). It was a pleasure getting to know the 2 of you and we wish you a lifetime of happiness! PS: I can babysit Jinks & Claudia anytime!
