Lily has been friends with ThyVan for a long time and she had the honor to be ThyVan and Brent’s Jr. Coordinator on their wedding while I took a much needed vacation in Canada.
I have been debating whether or not I should be blogging about this wedding. Lily contacted ThyVan for her blessing before we publicly posted the wedding. Sadly, as we post this blog, Brent has lost his battle with cancer in January. However, this blog is not intended to make anyone sad but to honor Brent’s life, deep love for ThyVan, his family, and friends. We will remember him as the fun, loving person that is captured on this joyous day.
From Lily:
Thyvan and Brent had a beautiful wedding day full of memories and laughter with their family and closest friends. It was also the Groom’s birthday! ThyVan surprised him with a birthday cake of course!
Looking back, I have known Thyvan for many years and we bonded over stories about our boyfriends, food, and how non-girly we were. She always knew Brent would be “The One” she could spend the rest of her life with.
Unfortunately, wedding planning was put on hold for over a year due to the Groom’s chronic illness, the final results was shocking. It was cancer. His prognosis was less than six months. Thyvan called me that day and we set up a consultation at Kelly’s office. We reassured her that we would try to help as much as possible. In four months, ThyVan was able to plan the entire wedding while also being the Groom’s live-in nurse and working her usual shifts. She was so organized and took control when Brent was too sick to help her. She was booking vendors left and right. God is so good! He sent us vendors that went above and beyond to make this day special for them. I had the pleasure of enjoying our meetings with Brent because he was as hands on as he could be by attending all the meetings and site visits. He wanted to make sure she was able to get everything she wanted. I couldn’t wait for them to get married!
Regretfully, we all said goodbye to Brent on January 10th. It was just three months after the wedding. Our hearts were crushed, but he left us all with a strong message to take care of our bodies and be proactive about your health. Love more and reduce daily stress. We celebrate your life and what you gave to all of us Brent | RIP @IkariWarriorsFightAgainstCancer
